YOGA

At LM School, we recognize the profound connection between a healthy body and a healthy mind. That's why we introduce students to the practice of Yoga from Kindergarten, aiming to nurture both their mental and physical well-being. In today's fast-paced world, characterized by competition and stress, it's crucial for students to cultivate resilience and inner peace. Through our comprehensive Yoga program, students not only learn essential techniques for relaxation, focus, and stress management but also develop strength, flexibility, and overall physical fitness. By starting Yoga at an early age, we aim to equip students with lifelong skills for maintaining balance and well-being in all aspects of their lives. In addition to regular practice sessions, we also provide opportunities for students to participate in external competitions. These events not only serve as a source of motivation but also reinforce the importance of Yoga as a holistic practice for health and happiness.

KARATE

At LM School, our students embark on their martial arts journey from Kindergarten through mandatory Karate classes. These classes are carefully crafted to not only enhance coordination and physical strength but also to impart crucial self-defense skills from an early age. Beyond the physical aspects, Karate serves as a powerful tool for instilling discipline and confidence in our students, equipping them with valuable life skills for personal safety and overall growth. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and motivation, students actively engage in various activities throughout their martial arts journey. Periodic Belt Tests provide opportunities for students to assess their progress and set new goals, while external competitions and demonstrations offer platforms to showcase their skills and achievements to a wider audience. These experiences not only validate their dedication and hard work but also inspire them to strive for excellence and push their boundaries in their martial arts practice. Through our Karate program, we aim to cultivate not only skilled martial artists but also well-rounded individuals who embody the values of perseverance, respect, and determination. By empowering our students to embrace challenges and pursue their goals with confidence, we prepare them not only for success in martial arts but also for success in all aspects of their lives.

SILAMBAM

We have integrated Silambam (traditional martial art form) into our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) offerings, and it has garnered significant interest among our students. From 1st grade onwards, Silambam is not just an option but a mandatory skill that students are encouraged to master. Not only as skilled practitioners but also as passionate educators , we impart not only the techniques but also the history and significance of Silambam. Curriculum primarily focuses on specializing on methods like: Kuravanchi: A traditional form of unarmed combat focusing on close-quarters combat and grappling techniques. Kuthu Kuravanchi: A dynamic and energetic style of martial arts characterized by fast-paced movements and striking techniques. Kida Muttu: A traditional dance-inspired martial art form known for its fluid movements and acrobatic maneuvers. Kalla Pathu: A strategic and defensive martial art emphasizing evasion, counterattacks, and use of the environment. In addition to unarmed combat, our students also learn to wield a diverse range of traditional weapons, including: Maduvu/Maan Kombu (Deer Horn) Vel Kambu (Spear) Kathi (Knife) Kattari/Kuthuval (Dagger) Vaal & Kedayam (Sword & Shield) Surul Vaal (Flexible Blades) Savukku (Whip) Aruval (Sickle) Valari/Valai Thadi (Boomerang) Changili Kattai (Wood + Chain) Thuni (Towel) Kal Thuni (Towel with a stone tied at one end) Rope / Rope Ball. We not only empower students with valuable skills and knowledge but also instill in them a sense of cultural pride and appreciation for our rich heritage.

ART

At LM School, we recognize the intrinsic value of art as a fundamental means of expression and exploration. Art is not just an extracurricular activity; it is woven into the fabric of our curriculum, acknowledging its profound impact on cognitive development, emotional intelligence, and creativity. Our approach to teaching art goes beyond conventional boundaries, allowing students the freedom to explore and express themselves through various mediums such as drawing, dance, singing, and more. We understand that each child has their own unique way of communicating and connecting with the world, and we provide a supportive environment where they can discover and cultivate their individual artistic voices. In order to foster a culture of artistic expression and creative thinking, LM School designates specific days in a month as 'No-Book Days.' During these special occasions, students are encouraged to set aside their textbooks and immerse themselves in artistic pursuits, giving them the freedom to unleash their creativity and imagination. Moreover, we believe in the importance of embracing contemporary art forms alongside traditional practices. Our goal is to expand the artistic spectrum by introducing students to innovative and experimental approaches to art. From establishing a literacy corner to nurturing a science innovation hub, we provide opportunities for students to explore diverse forms of artistic expression and engage with cutting-edge ideas and technologies. By integrating art into every aspect of our curriculum, LM School empowers students to think critically, express themselves confidently, and embrace creativity as a lifelong journey of discovery and growth.
